Interesting fact about the Artist: In 1949, Curtis’ new book, The Lure of Gold, was proving to be too big of a challenge for the eighty-one year old man. There was so much to learn and research about gold itself and how to find it that this project was affecting Curtis’ health. Finally due to his doctor’s orders, Curtis halted the production of his book. The Lure of Gold never graced bookshelves as The North American Indian once had. (from: Makepeace, Anne. Edward S.
