Interesting fact about the Artist: In the 1930s, the Sun Dance of the Piegan people ceased to exist. However, it was Curtis’ photos that provided a reference for Allan Pard and Jerry Potts, two Piegan Indians of today, which helped them recreate a Sun Dance ritual on their reserve in 1977; the first Sun Dance on the reservation in 75 years.
