Interesting fact about the Artist: Although Curtis’ health had prevented him from searching for gold, he had not given up hope about learning and teaching about the subject. Curtis spent many hours in libraries with his nose in books researching gold and how best to mine it. His passion was soon meshed with his home life as two of his walls in his apartment were covered with notes and the research he found. He later used these notes to help him write his unfinished book, The Lure of Gold. (from: Makepeace, Anne. Edward S. Curtis Coming to Light. Washington D.C.: National Geographic, 2002. Print.)
