Interesting fact about the Photographer: In 1910, Curtis travelled up and down the Columbia River, as Lewis and Clark did, meeting new tribes and taking intriguing photographs. However, the ambitious trip took a major toll on Curtis’ wellbeing. When he returned to Seattle, he collapsed at his home and was bedridden for ten straight days. For a man who lived constantly on the go with his camera by his side, this was the worst possible diagnosis for Curtis. (from: Makepeace, Anne. Edward S. Curtis Coming to Light.
