Interesting fact about the Photographer: With the divorce from his wife in 1916, Curtis was never able to spend time with his youngest daughter Katherine, nicknamed Billy. Whether it was for revenge or protection, Clara felt the need to prevent her youngest daughter from seeing the child’s father. Finally in 1927, eighteen-year-old Katherine spent Christmas with her father and siblings in Oregon at her sister Florence’s house. It was an emotional reunion for both Katherine and her father who had not seen each other in thirteen years. (from: Makepeace, Anne. Edward S. Curtis Coming to Light.
