Interesting fact about the Photographer: After reading Wilson’s Photographics: A Series of Lessons Accompanied by Notes on All Processes Which Are Needful in Photography, Curtis made his own camera when he was only twelve years old. He placed one wooden box inside of another, and then attached a stereopticon lens on the front of his contraption. Curtis was given the lens by his father, who brought it home after serving in the Civil War. (from: Makepeace, Anne. Edward S. Curtis Coming to Light. Washington D.C.: National Geographic, 2002.
