Free Community Day and Closing Celebration

Join us for DuMA Community Day, a free, all-ages celebration marking the final days at the Dubuque Museum of Art’s longtime home in the Woodward Fine Arts Centre. Participate in an interactive art-making project that will transform the walls of the Alice E. & Erwin J. Hafeman Lobby into a vibrant canvas of shared community expression. This is also your last chance to experience the “Voyages” exhibition, featuring powerful work by three exceptional regional artists: Gerit Grimm, Stina Joy Henslee, and Jenni Brant.

Celebrate with PRIDE: Take a short stroll to Town Clock Plaza and enjoy the DBQ Pride Festival, a free community celebration with live performances, food trucks, vendors, and fun for the whole family.
What’s Next: The Museum will reopen on October 11th at its temporary home inside the Dupaco Voices Building in Dubuque’s Historic Millwork District, thanks to a generous in-kind donation from Dupaco Credit Union.
Let’s celebrate the past and look ahead to what’s next, together.

Beyond the Studio: The Power and Possibility of Artist Residencies with Jenni Brant

Artist residencies can be transformative—offering time, space, and inspiration to create, reflect, and connect. In this talk, artist and former residency director Jenni Petersen-Brant shares personal insights and practical advice drawn from years of experience on both sides of the residency equation. Whether you’re a visual artist, performer, writer, or cultural worker—or part of an organization interested in hosting creatives—this session explores how residencies can expand your practice, spark collaboration, and strengthen community. From first-timers to seasoned pros, artists at all levels will gain tools and inspiration to explore stepping away from the everyday to open new doors and discover what’s possible.
