Bio
Born in Munich Germany of Latvian parents, Alda immigrated to the US at the age of 5. A science major in college she always enjoyed art in her spare time. A member of Iowa Artists and Iowa Watercolor Society, Alda has taken many workshops and has participated in many exhibitions. Her work hangs in many homes and businesses. She is represented by Outside the Lines and paints locally with the Plein Air Painters of Dubuque.
Artist Statement
Subject matter does not attract me as much as lighting and composition. I do prefer the less painted subjects or at least a different point of view. I enjoy watercolor because it does its own thing and I like to experiment with non-traditional surfaces and tools.
