Artist Statement
My newest body of work explores the iconic images of the rural American landscape in a search for peace. Driven by my emotional response to these structures, rather than by any real-life experience with them, I am moved by the pride with which they carry themselves—whether in decay, abandonment or active use. They are familiar, and, consequently, of comfort.
These objects are fabricated in my one-person studio from sterling silver with inner, unseen skeletons of nickel silver. They are clad in traditional kiln-fired glass enamel on copper. My work is the result of old-school handwork—I use no production techniques.
