LINDA KELEN

Why these Spoons are:

There's nothing special I can say about why I do anything.
It's curiosity mostly.
A wondering of, "Can I?" and "What if?"
I started making odd wall items of aluminum flashing and Sardine tins, using a hammer and clothespins.
I liked the fact that I could actually move metal.
Someone made me three odd tools,
and told me to read about Chasing and Repousse.
I did some homework,
gathered a few shop tools,
some copper sheet metal,
a piece of quarter inch copper bar stock and began learning how metal can move.
Wanting to make something functional, I considered The Spoon.

Pounding out a rough spoon bowl was enough to create the typical sound of a spoon hitting the
floor.
So, if the spoon bowl is pretty much what makes a spoon,
the rest of it is mine!

That's how it all started.
