Meet up with other young art enthusiasts age 10-14 for an hour-long virtual creative session exploring a different artistic medium each month.

Registration required, max class size 8 students, min 3 students

Brown bag supplies available for pick up prior to each month’s program

Teen Studio Saturdays

Artists ages 14-18 will have the opportunity to warm-up together as a group with creativity exercises and then work independently on art projects.

We will kick it up a notch and play with oven bake clay this class. Colorful and pliable Sculpey is easy to use and bakes into a durable plastic, perfect for small projects. For the science-minded artist, we’ll try our hands at creating a mini solar system model that can be baked and strung as a mobile.

Students will enjoy visualizing in three dimensions working with with air dry clay. We will explore coiling and texturing techniques as we make little clay birds (or dinosaurs!) and a nest for them to live in.

Looking for a creative way to fill Spring Break week? Students will explore how artists make multiples and explore different techniques to accomplish that. Activities will include plaster casting and foam relief prints.

This class will focus on composition, brush use, color mixing, and color theory as we explore acrylic painting techniques. Students will prepare a canvas board and work on an imaginative dreamscape painting.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

Young artists will explore the theme ‘Art and Nature’ while spending mornings at both Swiss Valley and the Arboretum, as well as visiting the Museum’s galleries for inspiration to create their own works of nature-inspired art in a variety of mediums.

The Museum’s educational philosophy focuses on experimentation, problem solving and “thinking outside the box.” Students create art in a safe and positive environment, finding inspiration in the Museum’s exhibitions and collections. Originality and self-expression is encouraged.
