Interesting fact about the Photographer: While Curtis’ wife, Clara, and son, Harold, came with him on his journey to photograph Native Americans, Harold came down with typhoid in 1907 and was unconscious with a fever for many weeks. Curtis sent his crew to go photograph the Atsina, Mandan, Arikira, and Hidatsa tribes while he and Clara worked to save their son. (from: Makepeace, Anne. Edward S. Curtis Coming to Light.
