Interesting fact about the Photographer: William Phillips, Edward’s nephew, remembered how his uncle lived and breathed photography:
I can see him now, sitting on the floor, his knees drawn up and held between clasped hands, his head tilted back against the wall, with clippings and pictures of all sorts scattered about in front of him, a book of poems by his side, lighted only by the flames from the fireplace….When he broke the silence, his usual remark was, ‘Wait till you see the next picture I make; it’s going to be a cracker jack.
